This Åcon looks to be the biggest one yet — so far 80 people have already signed up, and it’s almost three months until the convention! Since Åcon has a membership cap of 100 persons (due to the facilities size), it is possible that we may need to take the cap in use this year. If you want to make sure you get to attend the convention, do sign up soon!

The ferry travel information is now published. As is traditional, there will be a group trip to Mariehamn from Turku Thursday morning (and return Sunday evening).
Due to lack of interest in previous years, we will not be arranging a trip from Stockholm unless enough people let us know they’d use it. See the details on the travel page.

There will be a Multinational Fan Party at Euråcon this Saturday. Various groups will be talking about their conventions (and serving people snacks and drinks), and of course Åcon will be there too! Come meet us at Stora Gasquen on Saturday, starting at 8 PM!

Åcon is proud to present our Guest of Honour: American writer Catherynne M. Valente. She is a novelist, short story writer, poet, critic, and editor who has received several awards and nominations for her work. She lives on an island and loves fandom, so we hope she’ll feel right at home at Åcon!

Åcon is a small, fannish, literary, cross-cultural relaxacon in Mariehamn, Åland. It will take place for the fifth time May 17–20, 2012. Åcon aims to mix a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of time for good conversations with an interesting programme. All programming as well as much of the socializing will be in English, since the con will have members from several different countries.
